What is project management?

When the term project management spread throughout Germany in the sixties, it was understood as a pure operative tool for project planning and control.

Project management was also compared with "network plan technology".
However, it soon became clear, that successful projects dealing with organizational change needed more than operative tools. As the name already points out, project management became and was understood as a " system to be managed".

Like other management systems also the project management includes:
  • Planning Tools
  • Controlling Tools
  • Leadership Styles
  • Organization models

The different tools and methods of project management are designed in order that the projects can be processed in an integrated way.
