What is change management?
A conscious steering process which initiates and supports changes in an organization
- On formal level - e.g. the change of the structure organization
- On process level - e.g. through workshops.
Particularly today well-managed change processes are the lever for the success of companies; whether these are crises to growth with, as mergers in which different cultures have to grow together or changes of organization structures and/or processes.
All of them shall be coped with an appropriate strong change management.
The organizations and thus also the management and the employees are confronted with a constantly changing environment.
Only the ones, who are capable of managing these changes in a professional way, while burdening the running operation as little as possible, will be successful in the future.
No two business organizations are exactly alike making it impossible to apply a set formula to manage change. A change strategy applied to a manufacturing business may not be at all appropriate to retail or service business. Change imposed by a merger may involve altering the practices and cultures of two very different enterprises while trying to maintain profitability during the process.
Successful change management will be achieved by following a methodical process of diagnosis, goal setting, planning, “buy-in” by the players and post-project oversight. This requires strong leadership and commitment to success by experienced professionals.
